I almost forgot to write an entry today, I'm so excited to be here and so relieved to finally have other thoughts in my head than what package goes to whose house.
We've been at the market place in the early morning and we actually did meet the king. He was accompanied by two guards in heavy armors. To my surprise and also to my embarrassment the king came towards us when he noticed my wife and me.
"Oh, I haven't seen your faces here before, I assume you are guests of this fine family?" he said while he shook my hand and kissed Carana's. We bowed.
"King Utamard, I'm highly honored to introduce you to my daughter Carana and her husband Antaran. They arrived from Insomida yesterday night," her mother explained.
"Well, I'm not surprised you are from Insomida, I think half of this town has in fact their roots in Insomida, we exchange people everyday. I suppose you know." The king laughed. "In any case, I have to hurry, my wife is waiting for the ingredients for the new recipe she is going to experiment on me today. Farewell, fellow travelers!"
We all thanked him, bowed and went on with the list of ingredients that we needed for our meal. Next to the farmer who sold grain and meat we saw a merchant who rarely comes to this town. His goods were diamonds, rings, earrings and any juwelry you can imagine. Carana's mother told me that the merchant was hardly seen here, he comes from a far away town called Klamstor.
After meal we wandered to lake Kinad. It was frozen, and the snow on the surrounding trees made it a picture I never want to forget.
After dinner we were ready to go to bed and I wanted to start writing in my journal when Carana's mother came into our room and saw the pencil in my right hand.
"What is this?" She pointed at the pencil as if it was something forbidden.
"A pencil, a tool for writing. I found it next to this journal," I explained.
"Can I see that?" She didn't wait for an answer and just took the pencil out of my hand. "That's the same pencil as the merchant who rarely comes to this town sells."
She shrugged and gave it back to me, then she wanted to say something but she forgot why she'd actually come in. So she just wished us a good night.
Well, it was an exciting day and I can't wait to see more of this town tomorrow.
